The book fair which was organised jointly by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Culture and the Baghdad-based Al-Mada Organisation for Media, Culture, and Arts will run for several days and offer visitors a wide range of books from over 150 national and international publishers.
President Barzani delivered a few remarks at the opening ceremony and thanked the organisers of the fair. He said, “I hope that Kurdistan will be a place for book fairs instead of being a place known for weapons and wars.” He also hoped that more such events will be held in Erbil in the future.
The President also noted that “it is because of the good security in the Kurdistan Region that such events and its remarkable development can be witnessed.”
